emanuel tres is based on the idea that great wines can be made simply and efficiently to provide a sense of varietal, site, vintage and appellation. Using little or no oak provides a clean and balanced starting point for wines made to accompany great foods and made to be drank young capturing the freshness and vitality of the vineyard.
2013 emanuel tres “Blanco” is a grenache blanc blend in the style of the great white wines made in the Catalan region in Eastern Spain. The grapes come from Camp 4 Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley where the warm days and cool, breezy nights combine for intense fruit components balanced with acidity providing structure and crispness on the palate.
Fermented in stainless steel and made with no secondary fermentation, this wine jumps out of the glass with fresh minerality, exotic aromatics and depth of fruit. Young and vibrant, this wine is drinking very well now, and, will have tremendous aging potential due to natural acidic structure and balance.
BLEND: 95% Grenache Blanc, 5% Viognier.

• Emanuel Tres Blanco, Santa Ynez Valley, Camp 4 Vineyard 2013 ($20): Technically, this blanco could be called grenache blanc, even though it has a small amount of viognier in the mix. It has a fresh and expressive nose, almost exotic, with apricot, yellow melon, persimmon and lightly brewed tea as well as a distinct and pleasant minerality. The flavors are of green apple, poached pear and fresh apple cider with supporting elements of brewed tea, gunpowder, cinnamon, nutmeg and jasmine. Did I mention that it’s almost exotic? But it’s still well within the flavor profile range of any California wine taster’s experience. Satisfyingly delicious, it will pair well with seafood • bring on the oysters!
